Mega Mania

Okay because of my age(14) I obviously missed out on allot of great games that helped to define the industry. It also means that I've seen some series only as the poor lame mutated creatures they've become instead of the proud mighty beasts that they once were, sonic for instance or Mega Man, ya lets go with mega man (don't worry hog fans I'll get to the blue blur eventually).
The first Mega Man game I played was a Battle network game on the GBA it wasn't really bad on the contrary it was a very solid grid based rpg I had fun with it but it didn't stick my mind as anything special. When I got a bit older and discovered the magic of podcasts I often heard people talk about Mega Man as a super hard super awesome platformer, my interest was perked. So when I heard that a new 8-bit mega man was being released on the Wii I decided to give it a shot, it looked and sounded worse than some actual NES games, was hard as hell and bare bones in an extreme. I loved it.

I immediately set about finding out what the best games in the Mega Man series were. I quickly came to the conclusion that the general opinion was that the series went to shit after three with two being the best in the series. Well since I had already planned on having a retro gaming segment on the podcast I decided to make January Mega Man 1-3 as to give myself a reason to purchase them and to give myself a time to play them(take a look at my currently playing list and you'll see I play allot of games for various podcast segments and really don't have time to play two retro gaming series at once).

So far I have Dr. Willy left on Mega Man 1, Heat Man and Willy on Mega Man 2 and I really had time to touch 3 yet. I'm currently trying to find at least two of the other guys on the podcast to play them with me but I'm not sure how that will work out. But here's were you come into play(pun only slightly intended) if you're a fan of the blue bomber or even if you've never played Mega Man in your life pick these games up (cheap $5 each on the virtual console) and play along with the Average Player Crew. When you're done write to us at averageplayermailbag@gmail.com and tell us what you thought of the games, if they're still fun or if they've grown stale over the years, your opinion of where the series has gone or even where you want it go. Then in January I'll read your responses on the Retro Active segment of the Average Player podcast.

This is Zac signing out
